2025 ‘1.50X0.75’ Pinot Noir (Tamar Valley)

$48.00

Winemaking:

Fruit sourced from the Grey Sands vineyard in the Tamar Valley. The site is planted to a high density of vines with 8,800 vines/ha or 1.50 x 0.75 vine spacing as the cuvee name suggests. Dry grown since inception in 1989 and meticulously managed by owners Bob & Rita Ritcher. The low fertile grey sand soils over clay and the density results in very low yielding Pinot Noir block providing great concentration.

A co-ferment of clones 777, MV6 & D2V5 & F6V7. 20% whole bunch - wild ferment with daily pigeage - pressed to old oak barriques for 10 months elevate - no fining or filtration - minimal sulphur.

Tasting:

Florals & a tart core of red fruit on entry. Whilst these high notes take initial attention, the concentration is there with notes of game meat and ripe fruit providing structure and a dense mid palette. A fine black pepper spice wraps the wine, with fine tannins providing length. This wine has range and should age well.
